The Cosy Autumn Edit

It’s official; the clocks have changed, the temperature has dropped and our Instagram feeds are full of Harry Potter books and pumpkin patches Autumn is well and truly here.

For two years running I’ve spent the majority of October on travels to warmer climates and whilst I’ve had some amazing adventures, I realise I’d forgotten how lovely the month can be with the arrival of Autumn and all things cosy. So in the spirit of the season, I’ve put together an edit of cosy favourites which have helped get me prepped for Autumn and the colder months.

Cheers to crisp falling leaves, sweater weather and staying in!

Lightweight knitwear

The Cosy Autumn Edit

I was on the look out for lightweight knitwear to layer under jackets while the weather continues to transition. I admit I’m a bit of a fusspot when it comes to high street knitwear as it often consists of acrylic fibres which can be itchy on the skin.

Saying that Topshop have nailed it with this cable knit funnel neck jumper in the nicest tobacco shade. Although it’s lightweight, it’s incredibly soft and fits comfortably and better still there’s no acrylic in sight! At a reasonable price tag of £22 I’m very tempted to buy the black version too…

And when it gets colder still, I have my eye on another Topshop number. There’s something very 90s about chenille jumpers and I am clearly having a thing for tobacco coloured knitwear. Slightly cropped and not so bulky, I can see this being a handy go-to in the winter months. Pay day, hurry on up would ya?

A skincare saviour

The Cosy Autumn Edit Clarins exfoliating cleanser

A downside to the change in weather is the in-balance it can cause to our skin. I had some Boots advantage points saved up and decided to spend them on some much needed skincare. I was missing an exfoliator and after some browsing, settled on the Clarins one step gentle exoliating cleanser

Personal preference but I do prefer manual scrubs over acids and this product also doubles up as a make up remover and cleanser so it’s a great multi-tasker. I’ve used the Clarins exfoliating cleanser once or twice a week and am happy that it’s gentle enough not to irritate my skin but is still effective at buffing away dryer areas to freshen up the complexion.

Witchy watching

The Cosy Autumn Edit

The beauty of Autumn is how easy it is to stay indoors and cosy up against the cold. Straight to the top of my To Watch list is the Netflix Sabrina reboot, ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’.

Growing up, the original show was an absolute favourite and Melissa Joan Hart was an idol. But hearing how different it is, I am very excited to see how the reboot unfolds with darker, more twisted plot lines.

In my personal opinion, October is the month of Hocus Pocus, the 90s classic which I have to rewatch each year. It gives us us all the good stuff for Halloween – the sassy Sanderson sisters, a wholesome American town in its Autumnal glory, and a talking cat – what more could you ask for?

A PSL alternative

The Cosy Autumn Edit

Call me old fashioned but I do enjoy a good old cup of tea. But with 2 extra additions I think you can elevate the humble brew to rival even the most ‘PSL’ PSL out there.

Prepare your tea as you usually would (Yorkshire teabags and a dash of milk for me, followed by two ingredients:

  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric for a savoury, slightly spiced flavour
  • 1 teaspoon (or to your taste) of honey for sweetness
  • Stir and enjoy!

So simple I can’t even attempt to call this a recipe but it gives you a slightly sweet, spiced tea which warms the chest perfectly. Do let me know if you decide to spruce your tea up in the same way.

And that wraps up my cosy autumn edit. I’d love to hear your favourite ways to embrace Autumn and up the cosiness game.
