Making Sustainable Fashion Choices with New Look Kind

It is encouraging to see more High Street retailers taking steps to address their own carbon footprints and implementing sustainable practices and products, which brings us to New Look Kind.

The New Look Kind range is ethically sourced using environmentally-friendly techniques and sustainable materials. Cotton is organic, recycled or sourced from farmers partnering with the ‘Better Cotton Initiative‘; a not-for-profit organisation which trains farmers to produce cotton which is better for them and the environment. Other materials include recycled polyester and responsibly sourced viscose. 

In recent months I have become more aware about sustainability and the importance of learning how to reduce my own carbon footprint and consumption. 

I have made efforts to avoid disposable plastics and switch to reusable coffee cups and metal straws, buying less takeaway lunches and recycling packaging where possible. However through educating myself on the impact of fast fashion, I wanted to overhaul my shopping habits by shopping less and choosing sustainable options when I do.

Finding Sustainable options on the High Street

New Look is also working to reduce its plastic consumption by 25% and has pledged to stop sending all waste to landfill by 2020. Additionally, New Look has joined the Fashion Transparency Index ‘an official yearly review that ranks 150 of the biggest retailers according to how much information they share on the making of their products’. Consumers can play their part by researching retailers’ social and environmental policies, practices and impacts and avoiding those who do not disclose this information.

Shoppers like myself can feel reassured that when they buy from the Kind range, they are choosing to shop ethically without losing out on choice. The range offers denim, everyday basics such as t-shirts and vests and a range of styles of trousers, skirts and dresses so we have plenty of options with little to no price difference.
